ok, so we went to see mawmaw a while back...........

maybe a month or so ago. it was a blast as always. we had lunch with her and papa Nicky. and did lots of farm stuff. i didn't take a ton of pictures but here are a few of the ones i did.

Justin and maw maw out by the barn.
don't you just love Justin's sunglasses. maw maw will kill me for posting this picture because she doesn't have her face on, but i think she looks pretty.

and here is our main reason for the trip! our extra roo's and a hen. we took them a white Japanese banie roo and hen, a black Japanese banie roo, and a barred game banie roo. ( the one we sent to the stock pot was an old English game banie, just like the one in the corner of the picture below.)

this is Lady, papa Nicky's dog. she's keeping a watch on the chickens and horses from the barn steps.

one of maw maws hens with her bitties. she will NOT! let you near those chicks no matter what.

this is maw maws fancy Cochin roo. i think he's so pretty. Justin thinks he's a Cochin mix but not sure what with.
anyway that was about it for our trip. oh, Justin went for a ride on Nicky's mare, her name's patty, he said he let her loose and she was going so fast he thought he might die if he fell, and then later he found out from his mom that her parents were through breed race horses. Justin said he can't wait to ride shadow their colt after Nicky brakes him. not me I'm not a horse riding girl. but i do like to feed him lots of alfalfa treats :)

OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DID THE STUPIDEST THING TODAY!!!!!!! i gave a stranger a ride. he just came to my car window and started begging me to take him back to his truck. i was TERRIFIED! i really really wanted to say NO! i should have said NO! everything in me said to tell this man NO! in fact i said NO 3 or 4 times and he just kept pleading with me. so why did i do it? because I'm a soft hearted person and a very stupid girl and i felt sorry for him. but that does not excuse me from this great big lack of judgement!
this time everything turnout just fine. he was polite and well mannered (I'm sure ted bundy was too, heather!) i dropped him off and drove strait home, scared out of my wits at what i had just done . YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER LET A STRANGER IN YOUR CAR EVER!!!!!!!
anyway now i'm filled with a happy feeling that i went out of my comfort zone to help someone, but my days of giving strangers rides are behind me now. i don't like having panic attacks (which i was having from the moment he came to my car till the moment i shut my front door at home), my chest gets all tight and my skin crawls. so we'll just say this is a first and last for me. To hell with being a good Samaritan, i value myself more <-----that's what i learned today.

so......these are my chickens.

We raised them from day old chicks (aka bitty's, incase you did know that one :)). They are silkies ,2 White hens ,2 Partridge;1hen and 1 roo, and 1 Buff hen. Aren't they just the fluffiest little fluffy things you ever saw. they have black skin under their feathers, and are said to be medicinal to eat.(not that we plan on it or anything, but it seems to be a favorite bit of information to Justin when he speaks of them.he always gives his cute little "wouldn't that be good to eat, because i'm a cook and i would like to cook it." face that he gets about that kind of thing. )
and these are my other chicken that went to live on the farm with maw maw (I'll tell that story tomorrow, we have a lot to catch up on.) minus one that "went to the stockpot" (saw this saying somewhere and now its my favorite.) for crowing allllllllldaaaaaaaaylooooonnnnngggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!@#$%*@#$%*@#$%*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Justin just lost his poor little mind that day and bud the rooster had to go. but after the best chicken and rice I've ever had, he decided he did not really like that part and we would just take them to maw maws if we can.
Anyway, back to the silkies. they live in our garden. it is a quit suitable arrangement,Justin built us a 8x8x4 foot pen and we bought a pre-fab dog house from Lowe's and converted it into a chicken coup. (it was to flipp'n perfect the roof even lifts up for cleaning and/or egg gathering.) we move it over a patch at a time ever few weeks or so, and plant up a new patch of garden, and in turn they peck up the ground and eat up all the bugs and weeds and fertilize the soil for the next time we move them.
they like to spend there free time out of the pin under my Turks cap bush. they roll around in the dust under neither and they hide deep in the middle when that darn orange cat comes plotting on them. I'll have to get some better pictures for you some time.
my puffy white silkie would just like to say "you should of listened to Dr.Paul. but no, now we're all going to shit. thanks a lot wall street."
my dear miss puff silkie, i dare say i agree with you for the most. I'm terribly conflicted about what I'm going to do come election day. maybe I'll decide when i get in there.

Mabel, the buff silkie thinks we can't see her behind the grass because she's a ninja chicken. we like to let her believe that. keeps up the moral in the pen. we're hoping for eggs anyday now.
